I’m Joanna!

Avid Adventurer – Crocheter – Indie Yarn Dyer – Mom

These are a few titles I passionately hold. My kids and I try to be outside as much as possible. We love to explore new trails as much as we explore our back yard.

Here at High Desert Yarn you’ll find crochet patterns + hand dyed yarn inspired by nature.

In everything I create, I want to inspire women to keep crocheting and exploring. Take a look around in the free crochet patterns for your next project!

More About Joanna

My family and I currently live in the Boise, ID. My husband’s job allows us to live in the wild places of America. We’ve made homes in the following places.. Grand Canyon National Park (AZ), Lake Mead National Recreation Area (NV), Everglades National Park (FL), and Chickasaw National Recreation Area (OK). These places left a mark on us, and we’re grateful for the time we spent in each place. Other notable members of the family – Owen (6yrs) + Emma (3yrs) and three fury mutts named Bell, Libby and Rex.

If I’m not crocheting, or dreaming up new yarn colors, you’ll find me in the garden, hiking the nearest trail, reading a book, or cooking with my family.

More About High Desert Yarn

High Desert Yarn was born in Grand Canyon National Park among the tall Ponderosa Pine trees, crystal clear blue skies, and abundant wildlife. Nature is where my inspiration comes from. At HDY, you will find design crochet patterns that are useful in an outdoor + camping lifestyle, or remind you of your experiences in nature. All the colors in the Yarn Shop are inspired by nature – the source of the best color combos.

High Desert Yarn…

• Inspires women to live a life of ADVENTURE
• Bolsters women to see the JOY in their world
• Empowers women to display CONFIDENCE in their true selves

Every time a customer wears one of my pieces, creates one of my designs, or reads a blog post, I want to spark each of these values in her life. I want her to leave High Desert Yarn with the gumption to tackle her own adventures.

I love sharing my great ideas with fellow makers, and showing off their lovely ideas, too. You are more than welcome to share any of these blog posts, or patterns on social media or your website! However, please do not claim, or sell, any of my pictures or patterns as your own. You may sell the finished product from any of these patterns. I would greatly appreciate it if you linked back to me as the original designer as applicable.
