Inspiration + Design

Like many good crochet patterns, they start with the yarn. Last year, I bought this Paintbox Yarn Cotton Aran in creamy peaches, and rusty pinks. The original idea was to make a hooded pool towel for my daughter out of them. However, that idea faded after all the gorgeous Autumn crochet patterns pulled me into cooler weather. So long, pool season! However, the Explorer Zippered Pouch found its way to me through this color palette.

The Explorer Zippered Pouch is all about helping you on your next adventure. Whether you adore scavenging the city — finding hidden restaurants and gardens. Or you find yourself in the wilderness, discovering new bits of nature — this zippered pouch makes a great addition to organize any hiking pack, or day use bag. Whatever next adventure you find yourself on, the Explorer Zippered Pouch is there to carry all the little things you need.

How to pack the Explorer Crochet Zippered Pouch

  • First Aid Kit — ideal for active adventures; pack with bandages, antibiotic ointment, pain medicine, small scissors, and cleansing pads
  • Snack Pack — organize favorite granola bars, trail mixes, and powdered drink packets so they don’t get lost in a bigger pack
  • Make Up Bag — perfect for a small makeup set to take on a weekend getaway
  • Writer/Artist’s Tool Kit — fits a small notepad and a few pens/pencils to jot down creative ideas before they float away
  • Date Night Clutch — pack lipstick, ID, cash/cards, and phone in this small pouch for the perfect accessory

Yarn + Substitutes

Paintbox Yarn Cotton Aran is becoming one of my favorite cotton yarns. It’s easy to work with, and comes in wide variety of colors. Plus, the people at LoveCrafts are wonderful to work with if you need anything about an order. You can browse all the colors here.

Substitutes — any other cotton, worsted weight yarn will work. Be sure to check your gauge when you change yarn, or hook size.
