As the requirement of daily life expands, 
the love between us strengthens. 

Every sleepless night yields
to camaraderie over coffee
in the daylight. 

As the battles of parenthood wage
we hold together by the bonds of love
that married us many moons ago. 

We seek each other in solidarity
in all those diapers
in every meltdown
with thrown food and infectious giggles. 

We seek each other 
in the fleeting moments of quiet
in stolen minutes of holding hands 
with faint memories of us before them. 

After the babies life became bigger,
more intense as the daily demands wage war against us. 

Dare I say it
our love matches this new intensity 
as our babies grow and the battle rages on.
