Inside – Slide a new crochet can cozy over your favorite chilled (or hot) beverage that accompanies you on your Fall Adventures. The Bejeweled Cozy Crochet Pattern comes in 3 sizes, and is easy enough for a beginner to follow. Keep reading to learn about this crochet pattern’s name, and where to find the pattern.

When you read the word “bejeweled”, what comes to mind?

Seriously, give it a few seconds thought.

Do you have that image in your mind?

Good. Now, keep it steady.

The Bejeweled Crochet Can Cozy fits well over a coffee cup to go.

Prior to October 2022, my mind would have gone to Smaug’s hoard, Disney princesses, and jewelry I couldn’t afford. Maybe you thought of those things, or demin decorated with an obscene amount of rhinestones.

Post October 2022, my mind only thinks of Taylor Swift, and her instant hit “Bejeweled”. I have zero shame in being a Swiftie (TM). In fact, this past summer I took a roadtrip with two girlfriends to dance our bodies sore, and sing our lungs hoarse with Taylor in concert. That night was nothing short of magical.

Since we made this once-in-a-lifetime experience a girl’s getaway, I wanted to make a little something for each of us to remember our weekend away. So, I designed the Bejeweled Cozy, and whipped up a few for us to use that weekend.

The Bejeweled Cozy wasn’t intended to become more than a fun creative exercise, and an offering of my art to my dear friends. However, the Crochet Capsule needed a bonus crochet pattern for the Festive Nights Collection. The Bejeweled Cozy Crochet Pattern fit the theme perfectly as a way to keep your hands cozy while enjoying an evening beverage. Personally, I cannot wait to use my Bejeweled Bottle Cozy for holding my favorite pumpkin ale while trick or treating on Halloween this year.

This crochet can cozy slips onto a skinny can, or bottle, to keep your drink ice cold.

How the Bejeweled Crochet Can Cozy is Designed

What are the most important aspects of any design at HDY?

FUN + FUNCTIONAL. These cozies needed to be easy to make, fun to make, and fit those drink cans! Basic crochet stitches are used in this crochet pattern – single crochet, half double crochet, and slip stitch. The hardest part about crocheting this cozy is the Spike Stitch. But, once you nail the placement of the single crochets, the Spike Stitch becomes an excellent stitch to hold in your crochet arsenal.

The Bejeweled Cozy Crochet Pattern is a beginner friendly pattern. It’s worked in turning rounds, and alternating colors to give the cozy a bit of contrast. You’ll definitely want this pattern on hand for a quick gift for teachers, partners, and friends.

The Bejeweled crochet can cozy comes in three different sizes.

Materials + Sizing Info

  • Worsted weight (category 4) yarn, 100% cotton
    • I used Crafter’s Secret (120yds/71g), 100% Cotton
      • You will need 2 colors per cozy
      • Approximately 40yds (MC) and 20yds (CC) needed
  • Crochet Hook – size H/8 (5.00mm)
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker (optional, but handy to mark the 1st stitch of a round)

This pattern is written for 3 sizes:

  • Skinny Can / Bottle : 3.75” wide x 5.25” high (measured from Rnd 5 to top)
  • Regular Can Cozy : 4.5” wide x 3.75” high (measured from Rnd 6 to top)

Yarn + Substitutes

Cotton v. Acrylic Yarn for the Cozy

For this crochet pattern I used a worsted weight (category 4) 100% cotton yarn for it’s absorbent qualities. As the can or bottle sweats, I wanted the yarn fiber to quickly soak up that condensation. If that’s something that’s important to you, then I’d stick with the cotton yarn. Here are a few great suggestions..

  • Crafter’s Secret from Hobby Lobby
  • Lily’s Sugar n Cream
  • Paintbox Yarns Simply Cotton Aran (one of my favorites!)

However, it’s worth trying these cozies, especially the coffee cozy, in an acrylic. Many moons ago, before I was professionally designing patterns, I crocheted my first bottle/tall can cozy. It’s still one of my go-to cozies, because it’s soft and squishy. Plus, the acrylic has a little more stretch to it, so you can get a snug fit around your beverage.

The Bejeweled Coffee Cozy is an excellent way to keep your drinks cold, and your hand warm.
