Inspiration for the Icicle Bauble
Growing up in Texas, winter is more like a warm Fall. You could still run around in shorts and a t-shirt. Our version of a winter jacket was a raincoat. My aunt gave my a 100% wool sweater one Christmas. I adored the colors and fair isle style, but it kept me a little too toasty for the balmy 65 degree winter. A Texas Winter Wonderland comes in varying shades of brown and grey from the dead grass and leafless trees.
But sometimes… we’d get a little freeze and a dabble of snow. Then, that snow would melt and re-freeze into icicles. Icicles are a wonder. Like dangling diamonds, or frosty spears, ready for plucking. As a kid, I’d bundle up in my wool sweater and rain coat to pluck icicles off everything in sight.
The Icicle Bauble Crochet Pattern is an ode to childhood. The wonder that comes with a changing season, and experiencing something new in nature. Also, it’s 100% beginner friendly. If you’re familiar with the Double Crochet stitch, you’ll be able to create these icicles in a flash.

Worsted Weight Acrylic – That’s What’s on the Bauble
Using up little bits of yarn is every crocheter’s dream. Well, maybe not our most exciting dream, but sure does feel fantastic when we use up a FULL skein of yarn. This crochet bauble pattern uses about 25yds of worsted weight acrylic. So, dig through that bin of tiny yarn balls and pick your favorite color for the Icicle Bauble. Otherwise, those unused balls will keep haunting your dreams with tiny voices of “please pick me”.
