Originally, I used it as a border for the Juniper Berry Collection. Then, I gave it a whirl as a border on a blanket. - US Crochet Terms used throughout.
- CH 1 the beginning of the row does NOT count as a stitch.
- The Bead Stitch is worked over 2 sts.
- Stitch multiple is 4.
- Rows 1-2 and stitch counts reference the Rainbow Blanket Crochet Pattern designed by Juniper & Oakes and High Desert Yarn.
Stitch Abbreviations
MC – Main Color
CC – Contrasting Color
HDC – Half Double Crochet
BEAD – Bead Stitch
CH – Chain
ST(S) – Stitch(es)
YO – Yarn Over
REP – Repeat
Special Stitches
Boxed bead (bead)
HDC in next st. YO, and wrap hook around the previous HDC from front to back. YO, and pull up loop. (3 loops on hook). YO, and wrap hook around the HDC. YO, and pull up loop. (5 loops on hook). YO and wrap hook around HDC. YO, and pull up loop. (7 loops on hook). YO, and pull through all 7 loops. SK the next st.
- The Bead Stitch is worked over 2 sts. The 2nd st is the skipped st.
Written Instructions
Rows 1-2: In MC, CH 1, HDC in first st and each st across, turn. (132 sts)
Row 3: In CC, CH 1, HDC in first st, BEAD (over next 2 sts), HDC in next st, * HDC, BEAD, HDC, rep from * until end of the row, turn. (132 sts)
Row 4: CH 1, HDC in each st across, turn. (132 sts)
Row 5: CH 1, HDC in 2 sts, * HDC, BEAD, HDC, rep from * until 2 sts remain, HDC in last 2 sts, turn. (132 sts)
Row 6: CH 1, HDC in each st across, turn. (132 sts)
Rep Rows 3-6, or until this section reaches 4” high.
End on an EVEN row.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
